How Can I Help In The Classroom?

BECOME A ROOM PARENT

What is a Room Parent?

Room Parents (parent or guardian) are the link between school and home.  They help facilitate communication between parents and the teacher, school administration, and/or EWPTO about what’s going on in the classroom/school and what they can do to help.

What do Room Parents do?

  • Communicate with parents and talk to the teacher.
  • Build your Room Parent community within your grade level
  • Coordinate parent donations for supplies needed for classroom events/activities, and for Strawberry Festival
  • Organize gifts for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, holidays, end of year, etc.
  • Help with additional opportunities that may arise.

What are Room Parent best practices?

  • Encourage other parents/guardians and their families to help and support the teacher
  • Maintain a positive morale and attitude to help build a sense of community
  • Communicate regularly with classroom parents to keep them informed
  • Share EWPTO information with parents as it becomes available
  • Network with other Room Parents at all grade levels for support via the EWPTO’s Room Parent Facebook Community
